Okay... I was invited to participate in this blog hop by Cathy Jo, my Facebook friend and a very smart and skilled author of two books that I've read and enjoyed very much. Be sure sure to check out Transitions: Short Stories For A Rainy Day, and No More Expectations. Her work is fresh and very interesting and entertaining. Here is her blog link if you want to learn about about Cathy Jo:  http://twistedwordpublishing.wordpress.com/blog/ .

So, how my part works is that I have to answer four pre-chosen questions and then tag three other authors on Facebook. Okay, here I go!

1) What are you working on?

Right now, I'm doing a few things. I have three series that are always in progress. The Fairlight Novels, the Daughters of Azele series, and The Outlaw series.  This summer, Come Into the Light book three  of The Fairlight novels is on the front burner and I'm hoping to drop that one in September. Between the three series, I'm working on my book covers and trailers.  Also I'm publishing those old short stories I wrote years ago and putting them up at Scribd.com. So I'm pretty busy these days.

2) How does your writing differ from others in your genre?

First,  I write in three  genres; the paranormal, historical westerns, and adult contemporary.
I write all three with romance in mind, but I don't necessarily follow the traditional formula for writing romance novels.  I think of them as romances, or rather stories laced with romance and sexual tension, while maintaining a strong storyline. Second, I don't  label myself as any kind of author. For instance, I don't consider myself an African American author. I am African American, but I'm just an author and I don't think I should be limited because of my race. There's nothing wrong with identifying yourself that way, I just prefer not to place myself inside a box with my writing.

3) Why do you write what you do?

I write historical westerns for different reasons. The main reason is that I just like that time period in our history. Heroes and outlaws were bigger than life, and Black men and women played very significant roles in shaping our history. Though, I'm a fiction writer, I think my stories reflect well and truthfully of our history.
By our history, I mean American history, including all of us.  I write the stories I do because they are the things running around in my head all day. But I have a special love for historical westerns, and paranormal romances.

4) How does your writing process work?

Well, it first starts with a daydream. Where it comes from I'm not sure, but each day it gets more involved and somehow I manage to get it down on paper. I just write it scene by scene then put it together. In my mind it begins to play out like a movie and I write it that way. Sometimes it comes in spurts, then again it might flood my mind.
Sometimes one story will stay with me until it's completed. Other times, like now, I'm just full of ideas about several things. I just accept it how and whenever the process comes to me.

I hope this was interesting for you, and I thank you for  taking the time to read about me. You can always follow me on Facebook, or you can reach me on this website via my contact page. I'd love to hear from you, dear readers.
